So you think Trump is making good selections for “We the People”? I say NO. I wrote this piece when Burgum was campaigning for President. But before you read it let do a refresher course about the Bureau of Land Management.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages 245 million acres of surface land and 700 million acres of subsurface mineral estate, which is more than any other government agency in the United States. This is about one-tenth of the total land in the United States.
Now consider Doug Burgum works for Bill Gates.
For months now I have been telling people all around the nation that they had better get to know who ND Governor Doug Burgum is because he will be in contention for the Republican Primary race for President of the United States. The most common response was, “Who is he?”
Burgum is honestly the most highly funded person in the race. I have been told that he has an open check book from both Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos. In January 2021, it was reported that Doug Burgum attended “The Alfalfa Club” gathering at Jeff Bezos multi-million-dollar mansion in DC. Then it was my turn to ask, “What is The Alfalfa Club?” I was informed that it was one of those secret society clubs where the elites go to strategize the takeover of mankind. They followed that up with “he will be the forerunner for Republican nominee for the 2024 Presidential election.” At that time there had been no mention of him even running.
And now he is.
Doug Burgum is a North Dakota native but he brags about “betting the farm on a struggling software company.” He invested $250,000 in Great Plains Software and pledged a quarter section of his grandfather’s farm as collateral in 1983. In 2001, Burgum sold Great Plains Software to Microsoft for $1.1 billion and continued as a senior VP at Microsoft until 2007. In that year he created a real estate development company in Fargo named after his mother’s maiden name, the Kilbourne Group.
In 2015 Burgum decided to run for Governor of North Dakota despite the fact that then Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem had the Republican favor. Burgum was expected to come in 3 rd in the primary. Bill Gates was his largest contributor in that race at $107,000. Most noteworthy is that 70% of his contributions came from OUTSIDE of North Dakota including $10,000 from Satya Nadella who was then the CEO of Microsoft.
In the 2022 election cycle, a common term was “Burgum Bucks” where data shows Burgum gave $935,000 to the Dakota Leadership PAC which very aggressively donated to and assisted the RHINO in each of the district races around the state. This was on the heels of his donations in 2020 to the PAC of the same vein to the tune of $3.2 million.
That brings us to today’s Presidential bid. His first gimmick right of the chute was to encourage anybody that would give $1 to his campaign to take a $20 AMAZON gift card in return. This is exactly how he accomplished the 40,000 contributors required to get invited to the second primary debate. I might just mention that during the “COVID experience” there was quite a bit of dialogue between Governor Burgum and Bezos. Amazon is a large employer in the state of North Dakota with 900 to Microsoft’s 500.
On the day (June 7, 2023) Doug Burgum announced he had filed his paperwork as a Republican candidate for the Primary in the Republican party, the Best of America PAC was formed. A June 30 contribution report indicates that the PAC has received $11,031,500.00 from just a few large donors. In the first two weeks after his announcement, Burgum outspent the next highest campaigner 2:1.
The Des Moines Register quoted Burgum as saying he supports Eminent Domain for the purposes of the CO2 Pipeline. He has been a threat to people of North Dakota who want to achieve the Founding Fathers concept that the Power Belongs to the People.
Doug Burgum is bad news for land owners. We must stay alert and continue to fight for the freedoms the constitition gave us. The ND PSC ignored the concerns of hundreds of citizens and permitted the Co2 pipeline this morning. Do not roll over and play dead ND. South Dakota citizens are not letting the bully Summit Carbon Solutions run over them, North Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska should follow suit and band together to declare their land is not for sale. There is strength in numbers. If the loud minority in SD can repeal the red carpet that was rolled out by their legislators for Summit Carbon Solutions imagine what could be done when multiple states band together.
Much gratitude to you, Trent, for educating me about Doug Burgum. I knew he was up to no good; however I had no idea of the details.
Frankly, these past 5 years, I’ve taken on the Herculean Task of trying to keep up with all the vipers in The Snake Pit. It’s been fairly all-consuming. I miss a few, here and there.
…And the saying goes that Herding Cats is the most challenging task! HA! I’d say that Wrangling Snakes is much worse.
